D’General is an artist that hails from Maseru city situated in the kingdom of Lesotho. His given name is Khalala Khabele, he is not only a recording artist but a visual artist as well.

He began his musical journey as an intern for Ghetto Ruff, which at the time was the largest independent record label in South Africa in order to learn about the music industry. He then went on to study Sound Engineering to better understand other aspects of music production, at this time he was rapping under the pseudonym Rabz.

He formed a rap crew called TKO with fellow rappers and registered a record label called Loxion Vibez. The group was offered a record deal but in the end they did not sign it and creative differences lead them to pursue solo careers.

He reinvented himself as an artist and changed his name from Rabz to D’General, seeing himself as more of a poet than an emcee. During this time he collaborated with several artists while studying Graphic Design, he has worked as a designer since.

 

He also pursued acting and landed a role as a rapper called ‘Mawaza’ in the musical drama series ‘Hustle’ that aired on ETV from September 2016 to April 2017.

The multi talented artist is currently working on an EP to be released under his record label 5 Star General Entertainment, he just released a single called Bang produced by Hip Hop legend Just Blaze whose produced for the likes of Jay-Z, Eminem and more.
